Thank you, Corazon Aquino, for becoming the shining light during our country’s darkest hours, and for giving us the freedom that we enjoy today. Now that you’re gone, my heart skipped a beat. Yes, it really did. Because somewhere along the way I forgot how much you’ve done for me. And I’m kicking myself for that. Death is a sad thing but yours made me realize how lucky I am to be free. I lost my heart, Cory. But you gave it back to me. Thank you for that.

Possibly one of the most beautiful places I’ve been to, Giverny (jee-va-nyee)is a town situated northwest of Paris, France. It is more famously known as Claude Monet’s hometown. Claude Monet’s that guy who did those paintings of flowers such as this one:
The man himself:
My cousin Clarice and I decided to visit Giverny on our second day in France. Our first day was spent going around the confines of the area where the Opera is located. Our hotel was rather run-of-the-mill, but was clean and habitable and had decent bathrooms. That was key. It wasn’t like we were going to spend most of our time inside the hotel. So that was okay. Two more of our cousins, Kathy and Stephen, were following in two days. My Tita Nora booked us a bigger room when that time comes. Anyway I’ll dish more […]

A day after Giverny, we visited the Louvre Museum to “scout” the area. We didn’t go in but simply took pictures of the magnificent palace buildings and its surroundings.
The one thing I loved about France are the clouds. Yes, the clouds! They make my pictures look more dramatic. Couldn’t say this about other places I’ve been to.
The famous “pyramid” in the middle of the courtyard (Cour Napoleon). Made of metal and glass, the structure was designed by a Japanese dude named Ieoh Ming Pei. It was commissioned to him by then President Francois Mitterand in 1984. The pyramid serves as the Louvre’s main entrance.
A spectacular view of the pyramid amidst the Palace buildings.
As we roamed the gardens, we witnessed a barrage of army jets and planes flying above us. I thought it was the beginning of World War III lol
No, these aren’t […]

This afternoon, I took my secretary to the mall to buy a cheap cellphone for our baker. I paid P1450 for a Nokia 1202 and an added P60 for a Sun Cellular SIM card.
But that wasn’t the highlight of my trip to the mall.
We detoured to the department store to search for belts. Since I only have two usable belts in my wardrobe, I thought I needed one more just to add more variety.
I checked out a rack of cool belts that carried well-known brands such as Volcom and Affliction. The Volcom belts were quite nice and kinda cheap too at P500 (~$10.25) each. Normally these would cost three times more if bought in stores or online. I got two white leather belts with red and black prints. Check em out:

This one I liked better. It shall now be […]

Today, I cut up my extension credit card and will start afresh by using a credit card tied to my name. Although I have been faithful in paying my credit card bills, albeit vicariously via my mom, it’s high time I act like adult and handle my finances independently.
My money comes from different sources, a few on paper checks and the bulk is wired to my bank accounts in the Canary Islands. Kidding. Last week, I visited my bank (HSBC) to pay my VERY FIRST credit card bill. How quick and painless it was. With a few keystrokes and a magic wand, the bank lady (who happens to be my cousin lol) wrote off P20,000 from my bank account and voila… we’re done. I’m like, “That’s it?” Apparently. As I drove off I thought to myself, I could do this! But […]

The day we visited the Louvre Museum, or the Great Louvre, or Musée du Louvre, or the Grand Louvre or however you watchamacallit, my cousins Kathy and Stephen had just flown in from San Francisco, California and Chicago, Illinois respectively. It was obvious that both were thoroughly exhausted, but we had to step up the plate and get our tour going or else risk ruining our itinerary. As soon as we dropped off their luggage at the hotel, we took the first train going to the most visited museum in the world — The Louvre (say lewv).
Clarice, Me, Kathy. Entering the famous Louvre Pyramid that is also the museum’s entrance.
As I’ve mentioned, the pyramid is not just a pyramid — it’s the museum’s main visitor entrance and it’s where the security checks take place. After security, we are led down a flight of stairs where we […]

So I realized too late that my blog posts here also show up in my Facebook account. My mom was a little ticked off about my Gadget post coz she didn’t want the “whole world to know we have a new car” (her own words). I don’t see what the problem is. Number one, we didn’t steal the car, right? Two, sooner or later people in our “world” will see us use it. Unless we wear disguises and pretend to be secret agents. Three, it’s f*cking gorgeous! If it were a stainless steel jeep, I’d rather keep it a family secret and take a cab.

I woke up at 830AM today, with Taylor Swift’s song “You Belong With Me” playing in my head. It played and played, like a broken record. I gave up and stood from my bed, not really knowing what to do. Ha. How about a morning picker upper to jumpstart the day? I came downstairs to the pantry and attempted a new iced tea concoction: Nestea mixed with fresh Calamansi juice. Here’s my “secret” recipe:
Iced Tea of Death
Ingredients
2 tbsp. Nestea Iced Tea powder2 pcs. Calamansi1 glass Water
Directions: Squeeze calamansi into glass using a strainer. Pour iced tea powder and water. Mix well with ice.
Ok, did I say it was gross?
The result was a cross between chlorinated water, Bisolvon and a rotten citrus fruit (e.g. calamansi duh). I don’t recommend the recipe above. If you insist, replace the Calamansi with 1/4 […]

September 12 is the birthday of one of my best friends (forever lol)… He’s no other than Jehz Laurente!!! Wooooot!
Errr.. Sorry, I don’t have a present for you, but I hope this blog post will suffice. You still owe me that steak in Manila, remember? (wink, wink)
Have a good one, my friend!

I can say that I have officially transformed Caffe Firenzo into my own little office. I love how the place is set up. The ordering area is on the ground floor while the main dining area where the comfy seats are is on the mezzanine. Gives me a sense of privacy somehow. The food is nice especially the whole wheat sandwiches. The drinks — well, I’ve heard complaints that they taste like cough syrup. But if you know me too well you know that I like gross medicine-tasting drinks. I dunno but I’m weird that way.
Today I had a nice Raspberry Iced Tea (P75):
Tastes like Robitussin mmmmm
After an hour I had my all-time favorite Corned Beef Sandwich on whole wheat bread (P60):
Freckin’ delicious!

As I shuffled through some photos on my N82 phone, I recalled my group’s misfortune of visiting a new cafe owned by Korean immigrants. It was hilarious really. It happened sometime in early November last year. We had finished dinner and was willing to try a new place to grab a cup of coffee or perhaps a slice of dessert. Somebody, I don’t remember who exactly, suggested we try La Core Cafe near Victoria Plaza. The place looked decent from the outside. We were about to back out because they looked packed. But the waiter person insisted that we come in. So we did. To our chagrin, he led us to the most appalling sofa set we have ever seen in our life. It was bright green and the cushions were almost non-existent that we felt the friction between our […]

Today I woke up at 10am to go straight to my computer to check if my websites are up or not FML
Then, I played some Asian guitar music, stripped off my clothes and… took a shower FML
Today I debated whether to go to the gym or not. I didn’t FML
Today I hung out at Caffe Firenzo, the same boring place I went yesterday and the day before that FML
I spent two hours working on an API for a website project. After which I was smiling like a big nerd FML
Today I received a total of 4 text messages. 3 on my Globe phone and 1 on my Smart phone. The 3 on my Globe phone were spam messages for get rich quick seminars. The one on Smart came from Smart FML
