If you have 120 seconds left, who would you call?

Posted: October 26th, 2015 | No Comments »

Few days ago I went out to drink with a friend. We went to this secret bar on 26th Street in BGC. So while downing whiskey and beers, he had this million-dollar question: If you have about 2 minutes left, who would you call?
I’ve forgotten how we’ve got from discussing cryptocurrency to the recent earthquake; we were talking about how he’s living on the 20-something-th floor and how he wouldn’t have enough time to evacuate before the building collapses. I know that was so morbid but it really got me thinking.
He said he’ll call his mom, dad, sister and girlfriend. That’s 30 seconds each call.
Well, I’ll definitely call my mom too. Yeah, just my mom. But I probably wouldn’t know what to tell her.
‘Hey mom, what was it like when you were my age?’
‘I’m sorry I disappointed you in all ways a daughter can disappoint her mother.’
‘Please don’t […]

Of attending weddings when you’re brokenhearted

Posted: October 24th, 2015 | No Comments »

I attended a wedding in Taal Vista, Tagaytay yesterday.
Yes. Tagaytay + Taal Vista + Wedding. This is really not a good combination.
It was one of the most painful day I have to ever endure. Memories just kept flowing like waterfalls on a rainy day.
What made it even more difficult is the fact that I might not be able to see myself having a wedding of my own.
I’m not even sure if I believe in marriage.
I believe that two people can decide to be together until the day they’re separated by death, but they should not be bounded by a contract that takes too much of a hassle to get out of in case they wouldn’t want to stay with each other anymore.
I believed that two people must be bounded by love.
Love. I don’t even know what that is anymore.

Six degrees of separation

Posted: October 22nd, 2015 | No Comments »

I think I’ve heard this song before but I’ve never really got to like it, probably because it didn’t appeal to me at the time. But you know how it is when you’re brokenhearted suddenly all songs speak your story. Taylor Swift and The Script are probably your new bestfriends now as they loop continuously in your Spotify playlist.
Watch the past go up in smoke
There’s nothing more raw and painful than having your heart broken. You know, all those memories, everything you’ve shared with one person, all that gone in a blink of an eye. Well, not really gone gone. But you know it’s never gonna be the same again. The loss of a loved one, whatever the reason/s might be, changes everyone of us in one way or another.

Review: My Fisheye Lens Opteka 6.5mm for my Travels
I’ve come to realize that I’ve been using my smartphone to take pictures and barely touched my camera at home. I love photography as a hobby but what’s happening to me? I dunno either! I lost my photography mojo ever since my work hours increased. Lack of motivation? Laziness? It gets really boring when you wake up everyday with Continue Reading

How We Spent the Day in Shomyoji Temple
Who would have known that in the big city of Yokohama lies a quiet and beautiful Buddhist temple. Built in the 13th century, the Shomyoji Temple is hidden in a subdivision. You’d never imagine that a cultural gem is tucked away in this place until you see the huge gate and red bridge inside. There’s actually a documentary called Shomyoji-Ezu that shows what Continue Reading

Of chasing and becoming

Posted: October 18th, 2015 | No Comments »

It’s been a month already. Just a month but it felt like forever. Those were the most trying days of my life and I thank God everyday I am surviving.

I may have had bad judgment calls one after the other– things I did that I may or may not regret few years from now, but the thing I definitely do not regret is going after what I want in life: to go on an adventure of knowing myself better, and chasing after the things I might be passionate about.

It wasn’t easy, knowing what to do. It wasn’t easy at all. I have always had short attention span when it comes to interest and hobbies and whatnots. But having no doubts about myself, knowing that I could pursue anything I set myself up for, and not being answerable to anyone give me a certain sense of freedom and individuality.

I know I […]

Because just like praying, sometimes you start writing again when you’re left with nothing

Posted: October 16th, 2015 | No Comments »

Well, technically I am not left with nothing. I have a job, a place of my own, my family and friends, my interests and as cliche as it goes, myself. But you know, when shit goes down we almost always blow it out of proportion.
The past couple of weeks have been really difficult for me. I know I’ve been here before and I trust myself that I can move on from this. But all this means nothing right now (but only for now) because the pain is really paralyzing. It’s so hard to sleep at night, and in the morning it’s like I don’t even want to wake up.
And what do I do? I write. Because writing forces me to think from the left side of brain, the logical side.
So I am keeping a journal again, it helps me keep my thoughts organized. I write down everything — thoughts, feelings, plans, food I eat, workouts I do, […]
