Hanamaruken Ramen in Quezon City

Posted: February 16th, 2014 | No Comments »

The sudden proliferation of different ramen restaurants in Metro Manila could have surprised anyone but most of the good ones are actually scattered in the central and southern parts of the metro. A friend who’s working for the same company that owns Wrong Ramen in Bonifacio Global City gave us a call and invited us to Hanamaruken Ramen, their newly opened restaurant in Trinoma, North EDSA in Quezon City.

Hanamaruken (花丸轩) Ramen is a brand which originated in Osaka, Japan. Together with the franchise, their brought here Hanamaruken’s Signature Bowl of Happiness Ramen. I was told by my friend that the original Japanese owner had flew in to the Philippines to make sure that the chefs from the local franchise achieves the same level of happiness for each serving.

Aside from your usual shiyo-based tonkotsu broth with al dente noodles, what made Hanamaruken’s Signature Bowl of Happiness Ramen different from its counterparts is […]

Posted: February 15th, 2014 | No Comments »

My husband and I are stuck in our house since yesterday. Snowstorm in Japan is rare and the availability of snow blower or street plow is limited. Mochitsuki or “mochi-pounding” in Japan

Posted: January 27th, 2014 | No Comments »

I first heard of “mochi” from my sister and when she introduced us the Mochi Sweets store in Eastwood Mall. Back then, I didn’t even realize that it was also the first souvenir I bought for my family during my first visit in Japan. Last Sunday, my husband and I were lucky to have been […]

The whole family decided to finally see this majestic creature of the sea despite my earlier apprehensions of how they handled this “ecotourism”. […]
