MDPC at Pan De Amerikana Marikina

Posted: August 30th, 2009 | No Comments »

Yesterday, I attended Marikina Digital Photographers Club’s (MDPC) 1st Year Anniversary at Pan De Amerikana Marikina. I’m not familiar with the place and I know there will be many photographers will come, so, I choose to arrive early.
Hot Pandesal for you

It’s raining but the show must go on. The program started with a dramatic prayer and an emotional National Anthem. We have some portrait photoshooting but I don’t think I did great because of my direct flash! I will post it until I finished editing.

Windmill

They have a big chess area for Masochists.

Vintage Walls

Just grab some chess and play on the tables.

Little Pond.

They have free lessons!

The baker.

The area is also a WiFi Zone, perfect combination for coffee and pandesal.

This is the whole area’s ceilings. Nature friendly and cool.

The restaurant is very vintage looking. Very classic, but uses cheap materials such as woods, clays, etc., which gives a long lasting aged aura.

Let’s Go Surfing sa San Juan, La Union!

Posted: August 27th, 2009 | No Comments »

To celebrate his 1st year in the blogosphere, my dear friend Jonel Uy of LetsGoSago.net organized a surfing event for bloggers. He informed me about his plans months ago and I initially said yes, but due to my work schedule and other commitments, I begged off two weeks before. Who would have thought that I pushed through with the trip and decided six hours before the scheduled departure date?

Surfing for the first time in San Juan, La Union

My blogger friends harassed me that afternoon. I figured out that maybe I can join them as long as I go back to Manila on Sunday morning because I need to go to work at 2pm. My former officemates also invited me for a very special get-together that Friday night that’s why I had a hard time deciding. After sipping my favorite mocha drink, I finally gave Jonel a call and confirmed my […]

Singapore Grand Prix 2008 vs 2009 F1 circuit

Posted: August 26th, 2009 | No Comments »

The difference between the Singapore Grand Prix 2008 and 2009 Circuit.
…and where to strategically position yourself for the race day!
**This is actually a re-post from my previous entry Buy Cheaper Signapore Grand Prix Tickets. The reason I reposted it is because people tend to get lost in my blog and they keep on asking me where the best seats are but they didn’t know I created this post long long ago.  Plus, I added a little bit more information by the end of the post.

Yes indeed this is one of my dissapointments. The main difference between last year’s ticket sales and this year’s is that they no longer offer seats to the Singapore Flyer. This was a total dissapointment for me because to last year, this was where I was stationed.

Fully utilized my walk-about Sunday ticket and was stationed here in 2008 at the Singapore Flyer area for great […]

No Woman No Cry – Unlocked

Posted: August 26th, 2009 | No Comments »

He’s not Bob Marley!  But he just made a very good cover of it… so listen first and enjoy…

So what does the song mean???
Bob Marley’s song “No Woman No Cry” has brought confusion to the listeners.
I have always thought that “No Woman No Cry” is an if-then statement.
[IF] there’s no woman, [THEN] There’s no cry… and I was like… I don’t dig this song so much!  It’s like erm, Bob wants no woman?
But then Jamaican English is different from the standard English and it should be interpreted as “No, Woman no cry” and not “No Woman, no cry”.
Translation in standard English, “Woman, don’t cry.”  *phew* way to go Bob, you’re my raggamuffin hero!
It makes perfect sense if you interpret it  as “Woman, don’t cry” if you read the lyrics below..

In this great future you can’t forget your past, So dry your tears
I say and to my peeps who passed away,
No […]

Two months ago, I went to Boracay with my grandparents and high school bestfriend. We got the chance to try a lot of activities like Snorkling and Reef Walking among others. Thanks to SEAIR for the round trip ticket to Manila and Caticlan.

Seattle’s Best Coffee is one of the first stores that opened along Megastrip in SM Megamall as far as I can recall. I remember hanging out with friends there many years ago when I was still working in Ortigas, Pasig.

Isdaan, Floating Restaurant in Gerona, Tarlac

Posted: August 24th, 2009 | No Comments »

After the Blogger Surfing event in La union, Sago toured us at Isdaan Floating Restaurant in Gerona, Tarlac.

Entrance of Isdaan.

The floating restaurants.

Small ponds.

Tacsiyapo! FYI: Tacsiyapo is where you place all your anger. You need to buy their breakable plates and even TV to release your anger! TV is worth P2000.

We did not get the chance to ask why there are so many Buddhas around.

Another Buddha.

Carl doing a Buddha pose.

Former President Cory Aquino was there..

And Jaime Cardinal Sin.

Aren’t they lamb? Or goat? I’m not sure what kind of animal is this. Its fur is odd.

A statue of waiter, peeing.

We went there for Photo Op only and failed to taste their seafood recipes. I wish to go back there soon to taste their finest recipes.

First Time in Cebu Day 3: Grand Kembot Day!

Posted: August 24th, 2009 | No Comments »

August 9 is Grand Kembot Day!

Spontaneous – > The perfect adjective to describe my third day in Cebu City with the Kemboteras.
We originally planned of going to Carcar and Talisay that Sunday. ‘Bohol’ also popped out in one of our conversations. With no final decision on how we should spend the next day, we ended up saying ‘Bahala na’ before going to sleep.

As expected, the four of us woke up late =P Thanks to Sinjin for waking us up at our hotel room. We ate our late breakfast while taking turns in using the bathroom. We canceled our out of town plans and decided to just eat lunch at the famous Abuhan Dos, where the famous Pochero is found.

Kemboteras at Abuhan Dos

We were all craving for the Filipino Dish. We ended up ordering the Special Pochero and Sizzling Pochero. The Patay Gutom in us were unleashed at that very moment […]

La Union Aug Long Weekend – Day 2

Posted: August 23rd, 2009 | No Comments »

La La La…
Potong Stim! (Malay expression) There still got no waves!  Actually, here were still some baby ones by afternoon and I still tried to ride it… ALONE!!!  And I got a wave, paddled, popped up, rode the board… ON MY OWN!  Without TULAK!!!  This is an achievement for me surf-wise and by this event I am just happy!
I had brunch at Surf Camp (quite expensive) but I was so tamad to go to Patubos because it was extremely hot and humid.  We then, swam, snorkeled and surfed and had dinner at Urbiztondo Grill.  At night, we just watched North Shore on my pc… Then Lush Angel had one funny blooper lol.  Then we slept… So tired!
