Weekend Lakwatsa at Boracay with the Grannies and HS Bestie (Photostory)

Posted: June 29th, 2009 | No Comments »

APRIL 1994 – The month and year when I first rode an airplane with my parents. If I’m not mistaken, the trip to Hongkong was their graduation gift and at the same time an advanced birthday treat to me. I remember my mom telling me that they wanted me to experience how it feels like to ride an airplane so that I will have a story to tell to my classmates. They warned me that it might take me a long time before I will fly on air again.

And they were right! Fifteen years after, I was given the chance to experience my first ever domestic flight. Thanks to SEAIR for the wonderful trip to Caticlan. Last year, I won six tickets from their writing contest. I originally wanted to go to Palawan, but due to undisclosed reason, we were assigned to go to Boracay instead. What made this trip […]

Nostalgic

Posted: June 29th, 2009 | No Comments »

How’s your school days guys and gals? Welcome back to my blogsite!
After designing my sister’s wordpress theme, I tried to sit back and relax at my bedroom and thinking of my future career. Ah.. I don’t want to think about it for the mean time. While sittin’ on my bed, my idea clicked me to photography. Later on I will show you how to make an old-fashioned effect of photography.
Cozenshock: Nostalgic Photography Effect

Nostalgic means “old-fashioned” style. I took this photo in a very simple shot and edited it in Photoshop to make it Retro/Nostalgic photography. Hmm.. Maybe not the perfect one, but still look like oldish He is Lans from CozenShock.com; he blogs about the entertainment and new knowledge using its resources such as photographs, reviews and other trivia. Nice representation on this shot, imagine he holds camera.

Korean Shabu-shabu Dinner with Family at Harbour Square

Posted: June 27th, 2009 | No Comments »

Me and my family had dinner at a Shabu-shabu restaurant in Harbour Square last night. The Shabu-shabu there was delicious but I still consider the Shabu-shabu selection at Gloria Maris the best. I…

Beer Belly: Is It Really Caused By Drinking Too Much Beer?

Posted: June 27th, 2009 | No Comments »

Beer belly, beer gut and beer pot – they all refer to the same thing: a fat stomach. Clinically, it’s called abdominal obesity or central obesity.
Have you ever wondered what causes beer belly? Or have you just accepted what most people say that it’s caused by drinking too much beer? I did a little research […]

The Influence of Michael Jackson

Posted: June 27th, 2009 | No Comments »

Yesterday, I received a text message from a friend informing me about Michael Jackson’s death. I originally thought it was a hoax not until I went online and read the post from Showbiz Gossips that indeed, the King of Pop passed away. It’s no gossip. It’s a fact that really made the whole world sad.

With a father working as a disc jockey and a mom who is a graceful dancer, I grew up listening to the songs of Madonna, Janet and of course, Michael Jackson. Please let me share to you how Michael Jackson’s songs inspired and influenced me as a kid.
Read Ten of My Most Memorable Michael Jackson songs. Beware of the heavy videos though

1. Heal The World

Make It A Better Place
For You And For Me
And The Entire Human Race
There Are People Dying
If You Care Enough
For The Living
Make A Better Place
For You And For Me
When I was still […]

Do you love the rain?

Posted: June 27th, 2009 | No Comments »

It’s rainy season again and typhoons are starting to build-up here in Luzon. One thing I miss about home is we don’t experience typhoons in Davao. Though it always rain down there, but we rarely get winds and rains as strong as those in Luzon and Visayas.  And most often, it rains at night. You’d […]

The Ridiculous Burger Challenge!

Posted: June 27th, 2009 | No Comments »

Take the Ridiculous Burger Challenge at Burger Avenue and you’ll get the burger for FREE if you’ll consume it in 5 minutes!

Bloggers invade Burger Avenue at New A. Venue Mall, Makati. Upon entering the Burger Avenue, plenty of photos are posted on their wall who dared the Ridiculous Burger Challenge!

Bloggers Jonel and Azrael took the challenge.
Azrael dared the Ridiculous Challenge first! He ate the whole bun and patty up but failed to finish the challenge. While Jonel did some technique, he ate the patty one by one.
Both challenger shared us that Burger Avenue patty is extraordinary, grilled, not oily, meaty, thick and savory compared to other burger patty.
I can not go beyond on Azrael and Jonel’s talent, so I choose to eat the single patty burger, the Crispy Bacon Melt, P165.

They also have Sexy Burger, P120. No bun. Just patty, lettuce and tomatoes.

How to take the […]

Philips Go Gear Mp3 Player and Virtual Battle of the Bands

Posted: June 25th, 2009 | No Comments »

A few weeks ago, a number of bloggers were invited at the Philips Go Gear Launch at Bonifacio High Street. The rain didn’t stop the techy bloggers as they invade the place and as they check the coolest gadgets from Philips.

After eating Talangkanin for lunch and sipping coffee as we chill at the afternoon, we all went straight to the Philips Go Gear event. We finally saw the Philips Go Gear MP3 Player and we were all hoping to win at the raffle.

Ada of Adaphobic.com won at the raffle

According to Ada who won a Philips Mp3 player, using the GoGear MP3 Player is one a kind sensation, you’ll feel the freedom thus reducing external noises. Isn’t that awesome?

Some of the celebrities spotted during the event are Mo Twister, Mojojojo and Grace Lee. The band Taken By Cars also rendered a good performance. However, the announcement that really caught my attention is […]

Unlocking PUK Globe SIM Card

Posted: June 25th, 2009 | No Comments »

The greatest vegetable that happened in my life: PUK SIM card! Okay. I am depressed for five days worrying about my SIM all my important contacts are there. I tried searching the SIM pack in our bodega but failed!

It’s almost three years since I bought my SIM and I didn’t even remember if I kept the SIM pack or threw it away!
My bad, I don’t know why it got PUK. I was just trying to change my PIN code then arrrgghh PUK! Tried going to cellphone shops but they can only unlock SMART and Talk N Text SIM, too bad it’s Globe! Tried calling the Globe customer service but they don’t have access to prepaid users.
Lessons Learned:

When buying SIM always keep the SIM pack especially the carbonated paper where the PUK code is located.
Don’t play with your cellphone especially if it has PIN code, or else you’re […]

Joy Black Gulaman

Posted: June 25th, 2009 | No Comments »

As a kid, I always remember drinking home made gulaman during merienda. And up until now, I still have those occasional cravings for the drink whenever I snack.
Now that my mom rarely makes her home made gulaman anymore, I get my usual dose of the beverage in food carts and Filipino cuisine restaurants. And then […]

You’re the 1, Goldilocks

Posted: June 25th, 2009 | No Comments »

Dear Goldilocks,
What memories we have had…  I remembered being so young and motivated as I was reviewing for my CPA board exams in CPAR.  I came from the province, Bacolod specifically, and I was a shy girl in a wild world of Manila.
I came in Manila this time to fulfill one of my dreams, and that is to pass the CPA Board exams.  Take note, my dream is not to become an accountant… but just to pass the exam (LOL, ok I’m kidding!!!)
I rented a room in the Immaculate Conception dorm and we call it “IC” for short.  This dorm is just literally a few steps away from my review school building as they are just adjacent to each other.  and it is just a few blocks away from Goldilocks!  How lucky was I to have one nearby?  I always had to satisfy this craving tummy of mine!
My daily routine was:
6:00 am  […]

Shutter Speed Photography

Posted: June 24th, 2009 | 2 Comments »

Brownout is my greatest enemy, no electricity means no internet and no computer. It’s next to boredom. I almost forgot that I have SLR which has many features including shutter speed.
It’s fun using the lowest shutter speed when it’s brownout and kills boredom. Let me show you some tips how I did this.
Equipments I used:

Tripod
Nikon D60 (Manual Mode)
Flash Light

Shutter: 13 (13 seconds), ISO: 100.

Shutter: 15, ISO: 100.

Shutter: 25, ISO: 100. Official Nyokers website at Nyoknyok.com

More random and failed shots:

It’s fast track. I’ll post more about shutter speed soon. You can only do this in cameras with shutter speed mode or feature.
