Touring the Underground River in Puerto Princesa

The Underground River is also known as Subterranean River National Park, or St. Paul Underground River, or St. Paul’s Subterranean River National Park.

It is an 8-km navigable underground river which includes stalactites and stalagmites formations and several large chambers composing of limestones. Underground River is one of the 28 finalist for the Official New 7 Wonders of Nature!

Each batch has 1 flashlight to witness attentively the formation of the stones. There are mushroom-like, dinosaur-like, pseudo grotto, corn-like etc formations. It’s really amazing to see these natural formations.

Mushroom-like Stalactites
We are not allowed to touch the stalactites and stalagmites to preserve it’s natural formation. They only allow touching of limestones, but please do not stand if you want to touch it to prevent the boat from weight imbalance. He-he!
